More commonly know and referred to as shin splints. For the first two years, your child's feet will seem to have fallen arches. Flat feet are normal in a young kid due to weak muscle tone in the foot, a generous padding of fat, and slack ankle ligaments that permit the foot to lean inwards. As your kid masters walking, the ligaments and muscles will strengthen and the stout pads in the arch area won't be so noticeable. By around five years of age, your child should have normal arches in both feet. Your feet are supplied with blood to keep them healthy. They also have a multitude of nerves that act as an emergency warning system. For example, if you have a stone in your shoe, nerves will send a message to your brain to investigate. Our feet play an imperative role in getting us around. Sometimes, pressure placed on the foot becomes out of balance and additional friction falls on notable areas of the foot. When this happens, the body may respond to the pressure by producing thickenings in the surface layer of the skin. These firm patches of skin are called calluses.
